Rev. Amy Topham
Ordained Minister - Esoteric Interfaith Church
High Priestess - Order of the White Moon

Although I had always felt the presence of a guiding, protecting force in my life, it wasn’t until I was 18 that the Mother Goddess made herself known to me. As I sat on my bed, in a fit of despair, crying my eyes out, a softness descended on me and everything suddenly felt very clear. I felt comforted, held, loved, safe. I knew somewhere deep within that she was “calling” me. My spiritual journey over the next few years would take me in many directions, yet this is where it began. It was this connection that would become the source of my strength and serve as the ultimate underlying presence for me throughout my experiences.

My first spiritual teacher was a Wiccan (Gardnerian) High Priestess. I experienced my first official ritual at her home Samhain 2001. Although there were many aspects of Wicca that I enjoyed and felt a connection to, I soon began to feel stifled by the rigid rules and structure, with elaborate steps and sermon like speeches. I wanted something that felt more natural.

After several years of solitary study, I found my next teacher, Rev. Luna Blanca, and was trained as a High Priestess in her White Moon Tradition. What drew me to her teachings was the flexibility to create a personal practice, drawing from many sources and taking only what resonates as relevant and practical for my path and life. I learned from her that the true role of a teacher is simply to touch the student’s heart, allowing it to open so the wisdom that is already there can be drawn out. I completed my training with her in March 2005.

Since that time, I have been working with the Celtic Goddess Brigid, as my primary teacher (along with one of her Priestesses and my Clan Sister, Christine Thomas). Through my connection with Brigid, I have re-awakened my long dormant creative spark and am learning to express my energy through drawing, painting, collage, photography, dancing, sculpting, graphic design and other methods. Now I want to do Her work by inspiring others to open up to the Divine within themselves and express their unique energy in a creative, powerful way.

How I Teach

I am a bridge person, with one foot in each world. I’ve been through the dark night many times with nothing to see by but my own inner light and nothing to guide me but the voice of my soul. As a teacher, I feel my role is to help others awaken to their true potential and remember that everything they need to know or understand is already within. I offer my students support and guidance in how to navigate that abyss between choosing to live a fully empowered life and then manifesting it on the physical realm. When you choose to walk this path, it is your Divine Self who guides your growth – my role is to simply act as a witness to your transformation, pointing out things that could help you along the way, offering you the wisdom I have gained from my experience in integrating the Human Self & the Divine Self.

It’s important that you let go of any pre-conceived ideas about what we are supposed to be learning. The curriculum is a loose structure to frame our experiences, but the experiences and insight gained always take a unique shape for each seeker. Because true learning is directed from within, the purpose of the teacher/student relationship is to create a circle of safety, trust, and open communication so the Divine can express itself through us. Ultimately, the role of both teacher and student is the same – to remain present and aware and to bring their own unique talents to bear in the process of unraveling, unfolding, and emerging.

I am also a Licensed Massage Therapist & Reiki Master (Essential, Celtic, & Shamballa). I run Moonwise Wellness : Therapy for Body, Mind & Spirit. I am co-founder of a healing center in Portland, OR : Ahahra Divine Healing and Creative Arts Center.
