Introduction to the Spiral Path
It’s all about the journey, not the destination
As we go through this journey together, I will share my personal truth along with books that I have come to find relevant and useful. Take only what resonates with you and leave the rest. The assignments I give you are designed to spark your creativity and intuition - if you feel a strong urge to do something differently than I suggest, please follow that urge - that is your inner voice speaking to you!
“I can lead you to the power of your own intuition, but once you recognize it, you need to release my words.” ~ Timothy Roderick, Apprentice to Power
What Is a Priestess?
A Priestess knows herself intimately, trusts herself completely, and has a deep connection with Nature and her inner voice. She knows that she is capable and can move with confidence through her life. Even when things appear negative, she keeps her faith alive and knows that there is a message in every obstacle, a blessing in every challenge, and she moves on. She knows when to move fast, when to move slow, and when to sit still and wait. She trusts the rhythms of life, riding the waves as they flow through her. This course is designed to give you ample space and time to fully explore yourself and discover the Priestess within. She has been there all along, just waiting for you to remember.
THE LESSONS
Lessons are given out each moon, and there may be up to 6 assignments (per month) that you will need to complete. These will vary month to month, and some assignments may take longer to complete. If any of the assignments feel uncomfortable, we can modify them into something that feels right for you or come up with an alternate assignment. Strive to be open-minded, yet to follow your inner-knowing.
THE BOOKS
When it comes to the required books, as with all the teachings presented, “Take what you like and leave the rest.” In fact, this is one of the strengths of Women’s Spirituality — You are Goddess, You are Source, Trust your inner-knowing, and find what’s right for you. I will ask you to think about what you’ve read and respond from your own unique perspective. Visit our online library to view the required books.
JOURNALS
For each Spiral (year) you will need 2-3 Journals. These can be as simple as spiral notebooks or as fancy as a leather bound journal. The choice is yours. The most important consideration is to choose something that you will feel comfortable with and USE on a regular basis. You will need :
1 for “Morning Pages”, “Gratitude Journal” & Synchronicities
You can use the same journal for all three of these things :
“Morning Pages” are something introduced by Julia Cameron in her book, “The Artist’s Way”. They are two full pages handwritten daily, usually in the morning (although you could also do them in the evening if that works better for you). For these pages, it’s important to simply show up, as you are, on the pages. Even if you feel you have nothing “good” to say, just write (“I don’t know what to write, not sure what I’m doing, etc”). If you make this a consistent practice of just putting pen to paper, eventually you will find your voice and you will see a transformation occur. Two pages per day, that’s it. Of course, if you want to write more than two, you can always do that.
“Gratitude Journal” is something I first encountered in the book “Simple Abundance” by Sarah Ban Breathnach. Each day, you write down 5 things that you are grateful for. Even on the worst of days, you can usually find 5 things to be grateful for. The more you focus on what you are grateful for, you set yourself up to experience more of those things. An attitude of gratitude is one of the most important aspects of this journey.
You can use this journal (incorporating all three of the above) in a couple ways. You can do it all in one sitting (either in the morning or in the evening) or if it feels right, you could split it up, doing some in the morning and some in the evening. You may want to do the Morning pages in the morning and the Gratitude journal before you go to bed. That makes a nice “bookend” to your day. Discover what feels right to you. The important thing to is be as consistent as you can in order to make it a habit that becomes easy and enjoyable to you.
1-2 for the Lesson Log
Your Lesson Log is where you will write down your coursework. Any notes, responses to reading, and responses to assignments will go here. This is what you will share with me when we meet (either in person, phone, or via email) so I can give you feedback on your lessons.
GETTING STARTED
Below you will find links to the Student Access page for each Spiral. Click the link for the Spiral you’re working on to get started. You will need a password to download each lesson/assignment.
